Campus Ministers bring the Bishop Kelly joy to Boise's Corpus Christi House

By Angie Weaver

"Is this Bishop Kelly?" two matrons at the Corpus Christi House asked as a group of BK Campus Ministers entered the kitchen.
Upon our answer yes, the two ladies erupted into shouts of joy for they knew that our appearance meant the arrival of much-needed gifts of winter clothing and apparel at the house, which is a day shelter for the homeless.

The fall semester Campus Ministers had been greeted into the Corpus Christi House with love, excitement, and praise. We brought along with us all the outerwear clothes donated by caring BK students and faculty, along with the underwear we purchased using the money from the jean day in October.

All eyes were watching eagerly as the campus ministers unloaded all of the coats, gloves, scarves, hats, other outerwear clothing, along with the underclothing and put them into a back room of the Corpus Christi House. After unloading, we thought it would be nice to brighten up their day with decorations on their windows for the holidays. Soon, the Campus Ministers, joined by children that were residents of the house, were all painting the windows for Thanksgiving, full of pumpkins and turkeys and other holiday subjects.

Every one that was at the shelter was extremely thankful. Whether they said it out loud or not, the smiles on their faces and in their eyes said it all.

Bishop Kelly, you all brought joy, hope, and happiness to those in need through the outer wear clothing drive. Don't stop now! Now that we have given the homeless warm clothes to wear, let's help them fill their tummies!

Now, the Campus Minister team is in full swing for the Food Drive. Although, you may not realize, the people that receive the food that we give, know that it comes from the hearts of Bishop Kelly students and staff. They look forward to us helping them out with all the food donated, and they depend on us every year. We all know we can do it, now it's time to step up to the plate. DONATE!
