Kelly girls soccer team off to great start
By Torri Kerkman
Bishop Kelly girls soccer started off their season strong, and
still going strong with an undefeated season. "It's great!
We're hoping to be back to back state champs! And so far things
are looking great!" said BK Senior Anne Marie Tortorica. The
Varsity girls started off with their first game against Kuna, and
were a little nervous but for apparently no reason after coming
away with a 3-0 win. Next came Middleton with a 4-0 win, and then
Emmett with another 3-0.
The
junior varsity team is following suit with an undefeated season
as well. They've fought hard and played hard without a single point
being scored on them either. The JV team is composed of many freshmen
who have said that being on the team as freshmen they had expected
to be pushed to play harder, and work harder. They still are, but
comment that the upper classmen and coaches have been very cohesive
and positive.
This could be said for their success. If you ever see the girls
on soccer, you can't help but smile at their enthusiasm, friendliness
and comradeship with each other, and they're matching braids. "I
definitely feel like that's one of the reasons my girls have been
so successful," commented the Girls Soccer Coach, "no
matter how hard and intense things might get during practice or
at our games, the girls are always encouraging each other and working
hard!"
The team understands that to get cocky is to plot your own demise,
but the girls can't help but feel confident. "Because we're
a 4A school," explained BK freshmen Savannah Buckley who plays
on the JV team, "We have fewer schools to play, and we've already
beaten them!" With that said, this week's homecoming game against
Middleton is on Wednesday! So stay positive ladies! We can't wait
to see that 2009 banner for our State Champs!
