Knights
Relish Return to State
By Knightbeat sports reporter Tori Cummings
The Knights are returning to the State football tournament after
a tough one year absence. But they didn't sneak in this time like
they did in 2007. This time, they are clearly the best team in their
conference with a 7-0 record. They have earned the right to host
a first round playoff game on
Nov.6 against Blackfoot.
Blackfoot brings a 8-1 record to Nick Ysursa field. They punched
their ticket to state by beating Century 17-3 on Oct. 30 at Holt
Arena in Pocatello. Blackfoot's quarterback Anthony Clarke ripped
apart Century's defense for 139 yards passing and 123 yards rushing.
He will present a great threat to the Knights on Friday night.
"We've gotta contain him" commented three-year varsity
football player senior Dominic Chumich. "
if we can keep
him from doing as least he can possibly do we have a shot
he's
pretty speedy
but we have three kids to every one of theirs
that can compete."
With the shadow of the Coach Tim Brennan and ex-BK quarterback
Cody Hawkins looming in the air for the past couple of years, it
means a lot to the team to reclaim dominance in the 4A SIC conference
and return to the playoffs.
"This year has been awesome, we have come together more than
we have in the past
We knew we had the talent last year
we've seen it all four years that we have kids that can play so
it's nice to think that we're in the playoffs and we have a shot
at going to state." Chumich said.
The Knights are more than ready to take on the Blackfoot Broncos.
Come out and support the Knights on Friday at 7 p.m. They will need
all the support they can get as a new era starts at BK.
