BK cross country girls running the extra mile

"Motivation" that's one word you could use to describe each member of Bishop Kelly's Cross Country team.
But one member in particular has a little extra motivation because this her first year running competitive cross country. Junior Camille Fery, whose sport of choice has been volleyball, hopes to be able to excel at her new sport:

"I expect to be able to push myself a lot harder and with the help of my team I know I can accomplish this very easily."

Camille is one member of the BK cross country team that is expected to be a contender for a state title. Led by sophomore sensation Emily Nist and senior Lara Tuthill, the girls' team is very strong this year. Coach Tom Shanahan has been excited, "I think if we can keep people healthy and improve this week we will be contenders [for state]. We have a good chance as everyone else and we have a really good group of girls and team in general."

Camille has already made a strong impact on the team. She got ninth out of about 50 girls running at the Jimmy Driscoll Cross Country Invitational, and her time was 20.13 on a 3.1- mile course:

"I've always loved running, and cross country was very welcoming, so I decided to give it a try. My very first race went well, and I felt like I gave it my all. I definitely want to try and be in the top 5 when it comes to the next race, and I think I can do it!"
